The Retiree or Pensioner Visa allows foreigners who receive a lifetime pension from a foreign government, international organization or private company to settle permanently in Panama. The monthly pension must not be less than $1,000.00 USD, with some exceptions.
Those who are pensioners or retirees of a foreign government, international organization or foreign private company and who have sufficient economic means to cover their expenses and those of their dependents in Panama can opt for this residence permit. The monthly rent or pension cannot be less than $1,000.00 USD, unless the applicant has acquired a property in Panama for an amount greater than $100,000.00 USD, in which case the pension can be at least $750.00 USD. Retired spouses can add their pensions to meet the $1,000.00 USD requirement.
Anyone who is a pensioner or retiree of a foreign government, international organization or foreign private company (pension administration company, trust, mutual fund, insurance or banking company) and who has sufficient financial means to cover all their living expenses and those of their dependents in the country can opt for this residence permit. The monthly annuity or pension may not be for an amount less than ONE THOUSAND DOLLARS (US$1,000.00), except for the exception contained in the following paragraph, and must be granted for life.
That the applicant proves that he or she has acquired a property in a personal capacity in the national territory for an amount greater than ONE HUNDRED THOUSAND DOLLARS (US$100,000.00), the pension may be for a minimum of SEVEN HUNDRED AND FIFTY DOLLARS (US$750.00).
For dependent children, their Permit will be Temporary until they turn twenty-five (25) years old, as long as they prove that they are completing their studies. However, they will not be entitled to permanence or pensioner status, with the exception of those dependent children who suffer from a proven profound disability

These applications may be submitted prior to the entry into the national territory of the applicant and his dependents, through a special proxy. As long as the filiation process is completed in the Immigration Registry of the National Migration Service
1. Power of attorney granted by the applicant and each adult dependent, in favor of LEGALIA PANAMA, who provides the text thereof.
2. Request brief that is drafted by LEGALIA PANAMA
3. Medical Certificate of Good Health, of the applicant and his dependents, issued within the three (3) months prior to the date of submission of the application. This certificate must be conferred by a Panamanian doctor. LEGALIA PANAMA. assists you in obtaining this certificate.
4. Police history of personal history, of each member over 18 years of age, from the country of origin or by the country of residence (only when the interested party has less than 2 years of continuous residence in the Republic of Panama). All documents issued abroad must be duly legalized by an Apostille or Panamanian Consulate and translated into Spanish by an Authorized Public Translator in Panama, in case it has been issued in another language.
5. Original passport from the country of origin, of each member, with a minimum validity of three (3) months. Important: Applicants must be present in the country at the time of submission of the residence permit application.
6. Complete copy of the passport, of each member, authenticated before a Notary Public in Panama. LEGALIA PANAMA. assists him in this procedure.
7. Five (5) updated passport-size photos of the applicant and his dependents (from the front and without hats or veils).
8. Affidavit on Personal Background, duly signed by the applicant (one for each member of legal age). LEGALIA PANAMA helps you complete the form provided by the National Migration Service.

Document that proves his/her status as a retiree or pensioner by foreign governments, international organizations or private companies and that the interested party receives a monthly annuity or lifetime pension of not less than ONE THOUSAND DOLLARS (US$1,000.00) or its equivalent in foreign currency. All documents issued abroad must be duly legalized by an Apostille or Panamanian Consulate and translated into Spanish by an Authorized Public Translator in Panama, in case it has been issued in another language.
10. In case of having dependents, you must prove additional economic solvency of TWO HUNDRED AND FIFTY DOLLARS (US$250.00) for each dependent, which can be justified with additional pension or with a local bank reference.

14. Letter of Responsibility of the applicant in which he or she is responsible for the family member whom he or she will protect as his or her dependent and assumes the obligation to provide food, housing, health, education (if applicable) and other expenses in general, including the commitment to assume his or her repatriation if necessary. This letter must state the telephone numbers and address of the domicile where the responsible resident can be reached. LEGALIA PANAMA assists you with the drafting of this letter.
Note: All letters of responsibility must be accompanied by a utility bill, lease agreement, hotel reservation or any other document that proves the domicile of the foreigner during their stay in the national territory.
15. A dependent who is of legal age (18 years old) and under twenty-five (25 years old) must provide:
When you submit the complete documentation to the National Migration Service, you are issued a processing card for six (6) months and when the application is approved, you are issued the indefinite stay card.
